Installing PowerTools on Mac
Part 1 – File Installation
Option A: Using the Package Installer (Recommended)
- Download the PowerTools installer package (PowerTools Mac Installer.pkg) from your purchase confirmation email
- Double-click the downloaded "PowerTools Mac Installer.pkg" file to start the installation
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the file installation
Option B: Manual File Installation
If you prefer to place the files manually or if you encounter any issues with the package installer, follow these steps:
- Open Finder. Hold the alt key, click Go followed by Library
- Navigate to ~/Library/Application Scripts/com.microsoft.Powerpoint and if it doesn't exist, create the com.microsoft.Powerpoint folder
- Press ctrl+cmd+t to add a Sidebar shortcut in Finder
- Right click this link (opens in a new tab) and click Save Link As… (or download the "PowerTools.scpt" included with your purchase) and save the resulting PowerTools.scpt file into this folder by clicking the shortcut in the Sidebar
- Navigate to ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content
- Create a folder called Add-Ins if it doesn't already exist
- Navigate to ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Add-Ins/
- Press ctrl+cmd+t to add a Sidebar shortcut in Finder
- Download, extract, and save the PowerTools folder in the "PowerTools.zip" file included with your purchase into this folder by clicking the shortcut in the Sidebar
Part 2 – PowerPoint Setup
After completing either installation option above, you must configure PowerPoint to use the add-in:
- In Finder, navigate to the PowerTools folder (located at ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Add-Ins/pptpowertools)
- Double click the PowerTools.ppam file to open it in PowerPoint
- Click Enable Macros followed by Turn Off when asked
- PowerTools will then be ready to download the rest of the application by clicking Go!
- Click Tools / Macro / Visual Basic Editor
- Press ctrl+cmd+t to show the Immediate pane
- Copy and paste the following command into the Immediate pane and press return
AddIns("PowerTools").AutoLoad=msoTrue
- Close the Visual Basic Editor window
- Reload PowerPoint
- Click on the "Activate Add-In" button in the ribbon, and enter the license key provided in your purchase confirmation email
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues:
- Ensure all steps in both Part 1 and Part 2 have been completed
- Verify you have administrative privileges on your Mac
- Make sure you're running the latest version of Microsoft PowerPoint
- Contact our support team if you need assistance
