Installation
Windows
After purchasing your PowerTools license, you will receive a purchase confirmation email which contains:
- The PowerTools add-in (PowerTools.zip)
- Your own personal license key
Follow the simple steps in the installation video below to install and activate the add-in. You can also find detailed written instructions below the installation video.
Detailed Installation Instructions (Windows)
- Download the
PowerTools.zip
file included with your purchase - Extract the files (i.e., the top level parent folder named PowerTools inside the ZIP file) into the following folder location:
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\AddIns
(you can find this folder by copy-pasting its path into your Windows search)
- Open PowerPoint, click the File tab, and then click Options
- Select PowerPoint Add-ins from the Manage dropdown, and click Go
- Click Add New

Navigate into the PowerTools folder, and then into the pptpowertools subfolder

Select PowerTools.ppam (NOT "PowerTools Helper.ppam")

You should now see a PowerTools tab in your PowerPoint ribbon

Click on the "Activate Add-In" button in the ribbon, and enter the license key provide in your purchase confirmation email
Mac
Since Office apps on Mac are sandboxed, activating the add-in requires additional steps. Follow the simple steps in the installation video below to install and activate the add-in. You can also find detailed written instructions below the installation video.
Detailed Installation Instructions (Mac)
Part 1 – Create folders and copy files
- Open Finder. Hold the alt key, click Go followed by Library
- Navigate to ~/Library/Application Scripts/com.microsoft.Powerpoint and if it doesn’t exist, create the com.microsoft.Powerpoint folder
- Press ctrl+cmd+t to add a Sidebar shortcut in Finder
- Right click this link (opens in a new tab) and click Save Link As… (or download the "PowerTools.scpt" included with your purchase) and save the resulting PowerTools.scpt file into this folder by clicking the shortcut in the Sidebar
- Navigate to ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content
- Create a folder called Add-Ins if it doesn’t already exist
- Navigate to ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Add-Ins/
- Press ctrl+cmd+t to add a Sidebar shortcut in Finder
- Download, extract, and save the PowerTools folder in the "PowerTools.zip" file included with your purchase into this folder by clicking the shortcut in the Sidebar
Part 2 – Add PowerTools to PowerPoint
- In Finder, navigate to the PowerTools folder (which you should have extracted to ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Add-Ins/ in step 3 above) and then into the pptpowertools folder
- Double click the PowerTools.ppam file to open it in PowerPoint
- Click Enable Macros followed by Turn Off when asked
- PowerTools will then be ready to download the rest of the application by clicking Go!
- Click Tools/ Macro / Visual Basic Editor
- Press ctrl+cmd+g to show the Immediate pane
- Copy and paste the following command into the Immediate pane and press return
AddIns("PowerTools").AutoLoad=msoTrue
- Close the Visual Basic Editor window
- Reload PowerPoint
- Click on the "Activate Add-In" button in the ribbon, and enter the license key provide in your purchase confirmation email and you’re done!
Uninstall PowerTools for Mac
To uninstall PowerTools for macOS, follow these steps:
- Start PowerPoint
- Click Tools / PowerPoint Add-ins…
- Select PowerTools and click the [-] icon followed by ok
- Open Finder and navigate to ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Add-Ins/
- Delete the PowerTools folder
- Navigate to ~/Library/Application Scripts/com.microsoft.Powerpoint
- Delete the PowerTools.scpt file
