Magic Painter

Magic Painter

The Magic Painter lets you copy object properties like size, position, formatting, adjustments, and animations between objects across slides and presentations.

What It Does

  • Copies five types of properties between objects:
    • Size
    • Position
    • Formatting
    • Adjustments
    • Animations
  • Works with slides, images, shapes, tables, and charts
  • Functions in two modes:
    • Batch Mode: Paint multiple properties simultaneously
    • Solo Mode: Use individual painters for specific properties

When to Use It

  • Copy object properties across different slides or presentations
  • Maintain consistent sizing and positioning of objects
  • Match formatting between tables or charts
  • Standardize shape adjustments (like corner radius)
  • Apply animations consistently
  • Fill an entire slide with an image using slide properties

How to Use It

  1. Select the source object you want to copy properties from (or select nothing to use slide properties)
  2. Choose either Batch Mode or Solo Mode
  3. In Batch Mode:
    1. Select the properties you want to copy
    2. Click the objects you want to apply properties to
    3. Click an empty area of the slide to finish
  4. In Solo Mode:
    1. Select the specific painter (Size, Position, Format, Adjustment, or Animation)
    2. Click the objects you want to apply the property to
    3. Click an empty area of the slide to finish

Tips

  • Use the reference point setting with Size and Position painters to control:
    • Resize origin points for Size Painter
    • Alignment points for Position Painter
  • The Size Painter automatically crops images and videos instead of distorting them
  • Turn off "sticky mode" in the menu if you want the painter to deactivate after one use
  • Add frequently used painters to your Quick Access Toolbar for faster access
  • Format Painter+ extends PowerPoint's standard Format Painter capabilities to work with tables and charts
  • You can pick up properties from a slide itself when no objects are selected
